Location Description:

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie" is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY

Preparing, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring the assigned engineering projects for the Lenox location. Monitoring compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.

Qualifications:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and implement projects that support Safety and Food Safety efforts
  • Help define project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Define tasks and required resources
  • Allocate project resources
  • Lead contractor orientation
  • Track and report on project deliverables:
    • Project scope, budget, and milestones
    • Safety results of project
    • Contractor expectations and results
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Project startup (OEE, scrap, quality, maintenance cost)
    • Present to stakeholders reports on progress as well as problems and solutions
    • Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs
    • Support and direct team
  • Lead and maintain Request for Change and Management of Change Process
  • Lead quality assurance, coordinate with Safety, Quality and CI Teams
  • Support plant Maintenance efforts
    • Downtime analysis
    • OEE improvement projects
    • Scrap reduction
  • Active participation on plant safety team. (SRMP)
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Food Quality of MFI products.
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procures and, in corporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained.
  • Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:

  • AA in Engineering, Operations, or Business Management, or applicable technical knowledge or Trade School required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in industrial operations, plant operations, maintenance, utilities and/or related field.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Competent in using Microsoft Office & CMMS System (Preferably SAP)
  • AutoCAD & MS Project.
  • Experience in the installation and repair of mechanical equipment required. Diagnose and repair of all machinery and process malfunctions, must be fluent in mechanical troubleshooting, electrical troubleshooting a plus.
  • Read and decipher mechanical drawings, schematics, and piping diagrams.
  • Proficient in knowledge of bearings, pulleys, chain drives, belt drives, and lubricants standards and applications.
  • Experience and knowledge of personal/process control computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and Networking devices a plus. Allen Bradley experiences a plus.
  • Good math, oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven analytical, planning, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and shift priorities in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.
  • Highly effective multi-tasker; resourceful with a “get-it-done, can-do” attitude self-starter.
  • Skilled in developing troubleshooting programs and job aids.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with all team peers and customers.
  • Maintain accurate records and data.
  • Ability to travel for training, continuous improvement activities, and projects, up to 25% travel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to endure on a daily basis, excessive walking, standing, crouching, lifting (excess of 60lbs), twisting, climbing, reaching.
